English Name: Cherry salmon, Masu salmon

The resident form of cherry salmon is called yamame.

Male Cherry Salmon: Vivid nuptial color is appearing on the male cherry salmon in mating season.

Cherry Salmon and Yamame: Resident form Yamame are enwinding male cherry salmon and bear a part of mating.

Cherry Salmon Digging in the River Beds: Female cherry salmon make a nest in the river beds by their tail. They lay eggs in the botton of the nest. They complete making the nest by measuring the depth and width with their tail. It is surprising that they make it just by their tail while they are swiming.

Cherry Salmon Mating: Male and female cherry salmon mate by cuddling up. Resident form Yamame (mostly male) bear a part of mating. Some of yamame eats the eggs laid.

Cherry Salmon Mating with Yamame: If there are no male cherry salmon, female cherry salmon mate with yamame the resident form (mostly male). The length of the time yamame is ejecting sperm is barely 1 second while that of the time cherry salmon are laying eggs is about 5 to 8 seconds. However, the eggs become fertilized with no problem since many yamame eject in sequence. It is surprising of the nature mechanism that lack of amount of sperm is filled by the quantity of yamame.
