Kazutoshi Hiyeda

kazutoshi_hiedaBorn in Fukuoka, Japan in 1948. Graduated from Tokyo University of Fisheries (current Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology) in 1972. Became a freelance photographer after working for a movie company specializing in filming under water.

Photographed the natural mating of yamame (masou: resident form) in the Tama River in Tokyo in 1976. Also photographed salmon in the Urap River in Hokkaido, Japan in 1977. Moved to Yakumo, Hokkaido, Japan and lives there now.

While photographing fish, rivers and the wild, he learned about the delicate balance in which we co-exist with nature, as well as the importance of environment conservation.
